“In the land of Uz there lived a man whose name was Job. This man was blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil.” ~ Job 1:1
Have you ever lost something? A job? A relationship? Your good health? More than likely, your life has contained struggles. And often, our gut reaction to our struggles is to blame God, and to rebuke Him for the evil we think He has sent our way.
In this Old Testament story, Job lost everything. His livelihood, his children, his health. But Job did not blame God. He knew that God would look after him. And let me be the first to spoil the ending for you: God did look after Job. In the end of the book, Job receives all his riches back twofold. More livestock, more children and no more suffering. A happy ending indeed.
“After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before.” ~ Job 42:10
This reminds me of the poem “Footprints in the Sand.” You know the one? If not, google it. It may surprise you: When we only see one set of footprints on our walk with God, it is because He carried us through our trials.
“No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.” ~ Joshua 1:5
So can we live into this promise? Can we rest assured with the absolute confidence that God will take care of us? Can we stop our worrying and relax into the knowledge that we will make it through to the other side with our riches restored twofold?
Our prayer is that you can. Our prayer is for your journey toward your happy ever after. Because we are absolutely certain that for all of us who have given our lives to Christ our story will end the same.
With victory. In Jesus.
