I grew up in a Christian, Navy family. Overseas duty stations helped me learn to celebrate the differences among God’s people and creation from an early age. From the time I was young I felt as though God had a special plan for me. For most of my life I have been active in church – doing things like singing in the choir and praise band, teaching Sunday School, leading strategic planning, and serving on various councils and committees.
Then on April 30, 2009, God called me, alongside my husband, Richard, to accomplish a very special project for Him. I was participating in my Walk to Emmaus at the time. The project has come to be known as the HOPE3 Weekend. I had no idea at the time that God’s plan included so much more… Feel free to explore the HOPE3 Ministries website to learn about our mission and current programs.
I have been a professional educator in higher education. As I look back on my degrees as well as my work, church, and life experiences, I can see that God is using those remnants to fulfill His purposes – to weave a beautiful tapestry of Kingdom-building. It is an awesome privilege – albeit sometimes overwhelming – to be carrying out that “special plan” I sensed God had for me from such an early age. I pray that one day I will get to hear those precious words, “well done good and faithful servant.”
To God be the glory!
