CJ was not raised in the church and avoided organized religion except on special occasions: weddings and funerals. Religion was kept at a safe distance until she was volunteered to help her mother-in-law, Lillian, find a church home when Lillian moved to NC to be near her sons. After visiting nearly all the 2,500 churches (just kidding, it was more like 15) in Greensboro, NC, Lillian truly felt at home at Guilford College UMC, which is where CJ ran smack into Jesus Christ. Long story short, CJ accepted Christ on October 24, 2004 promising to live the second 50 years of her life for the Lord and HIS work.
